Biella Cerrione - Italy
To support the winter fire season, the Italian fire brigade deployed one of their Sikorsky S-64 Skycranes to Biella Airport, in north-western italy, positioning it closer to the alpine fire-prone areas.
In March 2026, we had the chance to visit this magnificent helicopter and learn more about its role within the “Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco”.
Gando, Gran Canaria - Spain
Ocean Sky 2025 (October 20th-31st 2025) at Gando AFB in Gran Canaria, focused on advanced DACT training and air superiority missions. The main highlight was the partecipation of Indian Air Force Su-30MKI, marking a rare deployment to Spanish airspace. These fighters operated alongside the Spanish Air Force and NATO allies to refine international inoperability in complex aerial combat scenarios.
Istrana - Italy
Poggio Dart 2025 (November 24th – December 4th) at Istrana Air Base showcased NATO’s integrated air defense and Command & Control capabilities. The highlights from this edition, were the Turkish F-4E Phantoms, featuring the special 50th Anniversary livery dedicated to Atatürk. The exercise also included assets from the Italian Air Force and Navy, U.S. Air Force and NATO AWACS.
